How did this start? Sam and I were hanging about in the same shady places when one day he asked, "Do me something with a robot holding up a severed Medusa head?"  I said, "Huh?" 

"For a book cover," he said, like that explained everything.
It seemed like a silly idea so I said, "Sure. Why not!" And so it began.
